Sheep belong to the category of the most vulnerable animals in - TopicsExpress

Sheep belong to the category of the most vulnerable animals in existence. They have neither speed to outrun the enemy, nor horns to defend themselves. Porcupines have a prickly exterior as a shield from attacks – sheep do not. Chameleons blend with the environment to avoid detection by predators – sheep cannot. Worst of all, they are not even gifted with the highest IQs in the animal kingdom! This is why God NEVER expects His people to act as sheep to ANY man – including Pastors and even General Overseers. We are called to be sheep only to God because with Him, we can afford to be vulnerable (He is our Protector), foolish (He is our Wisdom), weak (He is our Strength), naked (He is our Shield), etc. All these because God alone is the fountain of all goodness. And He does not change. No man is like this. No Pastor is like this. Men change. Pastors change. General Overseers change. I repeat for emphasis – this is why God, in His infinite wisdom, does not expect His people to act like sheep with ANYBODY. In the most poignant passage on the subject, Jesus said, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” (Matt 10:16). Please read the passage in context, it references religious leaders too. So, God expects us to be WISE in dealing with even Pastors and General Overseers. It is easy to see why. Some Pastors are wolves from the beginning of their ministries. Many more Pastors started out as true shepherds, but the allure of money (widely available in ministry) has transformed them into wolves over time. Some Pastors are satanic agents disguised as righteous men (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) among God’s flock. If you present yourself as a sheep, any category of these wolves will happily eat you for lunch – and you will only have yourself to blame on the Day of Judgment. The Bible warned us clearly against false men of God. Jesus told us how to recognise them – by their fruits. Today, we neglect Jesus’ clear warning and recognise men of God by their gifts. The more gifted they are, the more we close our eyes to their fruits. On the last day, a lot of us will be surprised. That’s why God put Matthew 7:22-23 in the Bible. Please read it. FACT: God indeed has true shepherds in the Church (we are very grateful for them), but they are FEW. This is simply because only a few people are on their way to heaven anyway (Matthew 7:14). When Pastors and General Overseers preach, don’t just swallow what they say. Go and read your Bible and confirm if it is so. Study widely, don’t just read the few verses they quoted (it is easy to pull Bible verses out of context to buttress any position). Study Christ Himself. Walk as He walked. Be prepared to suffer as He suffered. Be prepared to be ridiculed as He was ridiculed – that is the ONLY way to eternal life (Acts 14:22). On the Day of Judgment, God will not exonerate anybody on the grounds of ignorance and stupidity. You are called to be vigilant, and to jealously guard your soul and all resources that God has entrusted to you (time, talent, money, etc). Do not feed these to the wolves as you will account for them. Today, although the devil is still roaring about and looking for whom to devour, his chief strategy is to plant quiet men behind the pulpit and consume the unsuspecting sheep from within. Do not be a victim! Do not be any man’s sheep! God bless you.
