Sheep or Goat (2 of 2) I believe that every one of us in - TopicsExpress

Sheep or Goat (2 of 2) I believe that every one of us in mankind have the characteristic of either the sheep or the goat. We are either followers of Christ or God will drive us to His will. Proverbs 16:9 (ESV) “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Therefore, no matter what we set out to do, the out come is always in God’s permissive will and the plans of God will never fail. Last week, we saw that Jonah had the mentality of a goat and God had to force Jonah to do want he was commanded to do. However, this week Abraham exhibited the mentality of a sheep hearing the voice of the Lord and quickly responding without a complaint. Genesis 22:1 – 3 (ESV) “God tested Abraham and said to him, ‘Abraham!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’ He said, ‘Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.’ So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac.” When God put Abraham to the test, Abraham responded as a sheep willing to obey without question. Remember, God was only testing Abraham and God provided a lamb to be sacrificed instead of Isaac. A goat must be driven; it can never be lead. If you try to lead a goat that goat might ram you from behind. You can’t trust a goat. You always have to keep your eyes on it to make it do what and go where it supposed to. A sheep, in contrary to a goat, must be lead. If you try to drive sheep, they will scatter. Sheep are faithful and true; they will follow if they know their master’s voice. John 10:25 – 28 (ESV) Jesus said, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Fathers name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” Matthew 25:35 – 46 (ESV), “When the Son of Man will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. ’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty? When did we see you a stranger or naked? And when did we see you sick or in prison? ’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to the least of these, you did it to me.’ Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me. ’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you? ’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to the least of these, you did not do it to me. ’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Stay focus on the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Brother Arnold
