The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was a really long, - TopicsExpress

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was a really long, unnecessarily long film. I am no longer in love with Peter Jackson. I was more than willing to entertain the thought that there was MORE than enough story in the original text to be able to put into 3 movies. Its true. There is. But after seeing the film, apparently Jackson didnt find it. The divergences from the original text jarred, and still jar me so much that I find very little to enjoy. The existence of the added Tauriel is still not a problem for me, its what they did with her, that was. I still shake my head that the dwarves were separated from each other, and only a partial team made it up the mountain. That. Was. Lame. Of course, none of that have anything to do with the 3 Oscars its up for (Sound, Sound and SFX). I suppose the saving grace is The Dragon, which would be under the special effects category. I still havent seen the Lone Ranger, but Id rather give that special effect Oscar to Gravity. Sorry, Professor. I still love you. To Peter Jackson, I would have to describe DOS with the words of one of my students: That makes me sad. :-( #oscarmovies
