Sheriff Bill Gore and the Sheriffs Department are proud to be working with the San Diego chapter of the Alzheimers Association to raise awareness about the debilitating disease. Click on the video below to watch Sheriff Gore share his personal story on how Alzheimers disease has affected some of his closest friends and how the Sheriffs Department is committed to helping find dementia patients that may wander from home. Thanks to the Alzheimers Association for providing the video. If you have a loved one who suffers from Alzheimers or any other form of dementia, youre encouraged to register for the Sheriffs Take Me Home program. It is a free and confidential database only available to local law enforcement agencies. It contains photos, crucial medical information and special care instructions for people with Alzheimers and likely to wander off or children with special needs. It helps to know during a search if the patient is a non-verbal, doesnt want to be touched or would only respond to a certain name. To register for this free service, go to: sdsheriff.net/tmh.
