Shiv Sena is a regional party and BJP is a national party. Their alliance works on the formula of giving more seats to BJP in LS elections and more seats to SS in Assembly polls. Now as BJP had more seats to fight in LS polls, they were ahead in more assembly constituencies during that elections. Based on this they want more seats in the assembly elections as they think that they are more popular than Shiv Sena. We believe that splitting will be disastrous to both parties and for betterment of MH they should fight together. They are hundred times better than NCP-Congress and MNS.
