Shoalhaven City Council received the 12 month progress report on the 2013/14 Delivery Program and Operational Plan at Tuesdays Ordinary Meeting. The report demonstrated a number of key achievements made across the past financial year including a surplus budget result in the General fund and the achievement of the Transformation Program Savings Target. Other highlights of the report included – • Budget surplus results for Shoalhaven Water in both the Water Fund ($4.9 million) and the Sewer Fund ($4.4 million). • Capital Works expenditure in Assets and Works Group of $41.3 million representing a figure of approximately double the expenditure in each of the previous three years. • An almost $6 million drop in General Fund Capital Expenditure Revotes ($9.9 million) representing the lowest figure of the past eight years. • Expenditure of $19.5 million on Roads and Transport Program representing a significant increase on previous years expenditure (12/13 - $10.5 million, 11/12 - $12.6 million). • Completion of the Ulladulla Civic Centre and Library redevelopment. • Major refurbishment of the Mollymook Surf Club. • Kangaroo Valley Sewer Scheme - $18.9 million • Opening of the $1.2 million ‘Crossroads’ Rural Fire Station, Vincentia. • Parma Road Bridge - $1 million. • Drainage Program - $1.6 million. • Strongs Road Water Supply - $2.4 million. • Gazettal of the Shoalhaven Local Environment Plane 2014. • Receipt of the World Environment Day Excellence in Overall Environmental Management Award. Mayor, Joanna Gash said she was very pleased with the results of the 12 month progress report saying she had passed a Mayoral Minute at last night’s meeting praising the Group Directors on some of the results. “The 2013/14 Delivery Program and Operational Plan 12 month progress report clearly demonstrates that Council has made significant progress over the previous financial year,” said Clr Gash. “Upon election in 2012, this Council made it very clear that there would be a renewed emphasis on capital works expenditure and the organisation’s road and transport programs. “I am particularly pleased to see evidence of a real focus in these areas, particularly with the additional road works carried out as part of the Special Rate Variation works program.” “Finally, I would again like to congratulate all staff on the continuing success of the organisation’s Transformation Program.” “Council again made a commitment to the creation of savings through this program and I am very pleased to see last year’s savings targets having being met.”
