Shootout ends tragically - CPS Security pursued a silver VW Polo from Alberton/Meyersdal on the N12 motorway today at about 16h25. It is unclear if the 3 suspects in the silver polo were suspected of housebreaking or hijacking. The silver Polo tried to evade the pursuing security vehicle and as they approached the Klipriver off ramp opened fire on the security company. Approximately 7 shots were fired. The suspect vehicle then drove at speed through the red traffic light at the off ramp colliding with a green Toyota Corolla in traffic. The passenger in the Toyota has passed away and her husband (the driver) taken by paramedics for treatment in a seruous condition. Two suspects in the VW Polo are both arrested and police have recovered a firearm as well. The VW Polo is confirmed by SAPS as a wanted vehicle. A third suspect escaped on foot. Be Safe - GV3
