Should I have the same amount of carbs around every workout? I hear from so many guys who are trying to gain muscle, consuming the same amount of pre, intra and post workout carbs for every workout. I have been manipulating my peri workout carb intake for a long time now, and it is such an important area to get right if you want to grow and stay lean. Your energy expenditure and muscle damage is going to be way higher for a leg session, than it is for an arms workout. Attached is a chart which gives you an EXAMPLE of how I might split up carb intake around the workout through a week. Please note that this is only an example and would represent someone who I have slowly worked up to using this amount. If you are new to intra workout carbs, slowly bring them in and review your performance, recovery and body composition on a weekly basis.
