Should Oregon become a right-to-work state? People are talking: The conversation on right-to-work for Oregon is moving. Several media reports have speculated whether Oregon could be next. The Cascade Policy Institute of Oregon and the Freedom Foundation of Washington will hold the “Northwest Employee Freedom” forum on the issue Sept. 5 from 7-9 p.m. in Vancouver. Vincent Vernuccio of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy will talk about how it happened in Michigan. Public Employees Choice Act: Jill Gibson Odell, a lawyer who previously served as legislative director for the Oregon House Republicans, and Libby Braeda, filed Initiative 9, known as the Public Employees Choice Act, earlier this year. The ballot measure, if the adequate signatures are gathered, could be placed on the November 2014 ballot.
