Should buy I Xbox One or PS4? Which is better? etc.. Peppered - TopicsExpress

Should buy I Xbox One or PS4? Which is better? etc.. Peppered with Console War questions for months, this is what I can tell you after slapping down $499 for the Xbox One Day One Edition and $399 for the PlayStation 4. Yes, thats right I purchased both along with a handful of games and accessories for each system using my own moola (no hookups for dear old mom!) While the initial investment in this gaming endeavor is painful on the wallet, anyone who owns an Xbox 360 or PS3 knows first-hand that you cannot really put a price tag on the thrill of home entertainment that has captivated them for hours, days and weeks year after year. To look at the Xbox One and PS4 side-by-side, they pretty much look the same. Both are black and have gloss/flat finishes... personally I am not a fan of black gloss since it often reveals all the areas I missed after that hurried dusting. Technically speaking, the differences between the consoles to the naked eye are slight. Both use very similar multi-core central processors and souped-up graphics technologies, they both include Blu-ray players and 500GB hard drives, and both sport 8GB of system memory. Should HD quality be as important to you as it is to me then thats your deciding factor and right now PS4 has my vote. While both consoles will offer a slew of on-demand movie and TV options, I gotta say the Xbox One seems to have more appealing options, including the capability to connect to your providers cable box via HDMI, bringing that multitasking experience of watching TV while playing a game to new heights and thats where the Xbox One has my vote. However, if that cool futuristic feature is of no consequence and you wanna use media streaming like Netflix with no subscription required (and plan on single player gaming and not partaking in online multiplayer modes) then the PS4 is for you. The Xbox One includes the Kinect, the PS4 does not include the PlayStation Eye camera and will have to be purchased separately. Potentially developers may be more likely to support the Kinect since all Xbox One gamers will have one. So if controlling games by gesticulating wildly or talking to your TV (which we already do) then another vote goes to Xbox One. If its just about exclusive game titles - Launch line-ups for both Xbox One and PS4 were lacking that HEAT factor us gamers crave. (my view is limited, since I did not purchase every game) Launch issues between consoles - Its a rarity not to experience any growing pains when millions of units are sold and these are no exception. There is only one way for these systems to grow and that is UP and I cannot wait to watch the evolution. Ultimately, if youre shopping for a game console for the family, it may behoove you to hold a family meeting to find out what your kids friends are getting that way you can get the same machine making online gaming more fun. All-in-all barring an EMP or some other cataclysmic event, there will be no losers in this console war. It is a damn exciting time to be a gamer! Cya online ~ TheXboxMom
