Should every visual look fancy? In our opinion: not necessarily, whats the objective? Ask yourself at least three things before making a visual: (1) how is the information structured? (2) whats the objective and who is your audience? (3) which elements and metaphors do I need to build that story and get the message across? We often facilitate strategy sessions or game plan meetings... and most of the time the result is a sketch on a flip: it does the trick of getting a group on the same page,... giving them a shared mental model and a basis for internal communication.
