Should we all be concerned about gluten containing foods like bread and pasta or just people who have coeliac disease or some other health issue? Well the research is stacking up and the facts are becoming plain for all to see. There are many health experts who agree that gluten containing foods like bread and pasta are simply to be avoided if good health is something we hope for, and certainly off the menu for our kids. Dr David Perlmutter in his book Grain Brain highlights the connection between gluten consumption and brain (along with immune) health and Dr Alessio Fasano is a key educator and researcher in pediatric circles warning of the dangers of gluten intake for our kids. In my own clinic the message is clear, a gluten (if not entirely grain free) diet offers optimal potential for healing and health for those who may not present with a gluten intolerance.
