Should we be baptized in the name of the Father, or the name of the Son, OR the name of the Holy Ghost? We were MADE in the form of God; Jesus EXISTS in the form of God, and that is significantly different! It is important to understand that because not to would suggest that Man could redeem us, and that is known as The Big Lie in some theological circles! Satan has deceived Man, through Eve then Adam, that we could be god since the Eden era. However, from the onset, God prophesied that a suffering Savior (The Seed - Genesis 3:15) would come in the form of a Man (without being sired by Man, but the seed of a woman, which is unheard of). Therefore, we have to understand that it would have to be the PERFECT Man, Jesus the Christ (Anointed), Who is brightness of His (the Father obviously) glory, and the express image of His Person (Hebrews 1), which speaks to their Oneness - not simply in agreement, but in Their essence! A being thats only as glorious as Man, animal, or vegetation (1st Corinthians 15) is incapable of redeeming Man, because the price is perfection. So, God had to incarnate as a Man with all the attributes of God according to His prerogative (which is why, for example, Jesus said only the Father knows when the End would come), to go to the Cross. The Holy Spirit, Who had been withdrawn from Man (which constitutes the death Adam incurred the day when he transgressed against the one and only law given at that time) was then able to return and indwell Man again. God the Father we can know to be the Source, Jesus His Manifestation Who declared the truth of God and His Kingdom, and the Holy Spirit His Sanctifier Who is finishing the work of Jesus to prepare us for the Kingdom. John 16:14, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.” WHO WAS THE OTHER COMFORTER? Jesus, The Word made flesh (John 1), Who clearly stated in Revelation 1 that He is The Almighty of the Old Testament, and His finished work on the Cross reveals the loving nature of God PERSONIFIED in Christ! (John 15:13). John 14:9 “Jesus saith unto him, ‘Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.’” Their Oneness couldn’t be made plainer until we see Him as He is: 1st John 3:2 KJV: “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” Even becoming like Him will be done by God: Hebrews 8:10 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.” The First Covenant was based on Man’s work; the New Covenant is based on faith in God’s grace (Romans 4:16) through the blood of Jesus! (Hebrews 9:22-26). John 1:14 KJV: “ And the Word (Who was God - verse 1) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” There is nobody like Him!
