Shoulder update! Had surgery on 9-10-14; Arthroscopy of right shoulder with: resection of labral tear, rotater cuff repair, subacromial repair, subacromial decompression, distal clavicle excision tendinoplasties of supra and infra spinatus tendons, smoothing the surface of the humeral head, subacromial bursectomy. Phew! No wonder my shoulder hurt for the past 3-4 years. Rotater cuff was 80% eroded by that huge bone spur. Had 2 biodegradabe bone anchors with attatched suture (like 200lb test fishing line). the suture is woven in and out of whats left of the cuff. The anchors will dissolve but the suture will be there for ever. Had follow up on 9-17-14 , dressings removed and started physical therapy. No narcotics for over 24 hours. Ibuprofen and antibiotics. I did get a bottle of Jim Beam though. They told me that my dream of being a major league pitcher is over. They dont give me a lot of confidence that Il ever be able to lift heavy weights again. I took that as a challenge. Im not going to be stupid though. I am so thankful to have had such a wonderful team take care of me and of course the prayers helped guide my surgeons hands. Thank you all for caring and I wish you all well. I know some of you are having some very serious health issues right now and I pray that all goes well and you have many more years to spoil your kids and grand kids. Thanks again. Im fine. Just another bump on the cobblestone road of life.
