Sidi Bou Said is a place dedicated to sufi spiritual retreat, a festive village. For fans of Fine Arts, it is a place of inspiration, a source. This is why I called Sidi Bou Said Village of the Arts. Because after all (and what is seen & happening here is not in favor of quality so far), the source is somehow intact. I remember seeing dozens and dozens of artist painters who came here specially to immerse themselves in the white, green & blue labyrinth. They become rare. Today I was pleasantly surprised to find this Londoner artist painter- now living in Cape Town (South Africa). She asked me lots of questions - having been reassured that I had nothing to sell , let alone buy! The funeral, the islamic prayer, the light ... We talked about Peter Otoole, Omar Sharif, The café des nattes (esparto grass mats Café) .... almost not about painting! Welcome my friend. Here, in Tunisia, youre at home!
