Sierra Leone journalist David Tam Baryoh had SHOCKED the entire - TopicsExpress

Sierra Leone journalist David Tam Baryoh had SHOCKED the entire patriotic citizenry of the country with the tribal hate and incitement he had lately been preaching on his widely listened radio programme called MONOLOGUE. It got to be so terrible on November 1st 2014, that for the peace, unity and stability of the country, His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, was forced to use his rarely-utilised powers under the State of Emergency, to have Tam Baryoh arrested and kept away behind bars. To be candid and brutally honest, anything less than the highly acclaimed action of the President in ordering the detention of Tam Baryoh, would have seen the President face serious allegations that he was failing on his constitutional duties of maintaining the peace, stability and unity that was needed by Sierra Leoneans; especially at this pivotal time of our national fight against the dreadful EBOLA virus. The detention period of 11 days served as a time of reflection for Tam Baryoh whom, on his release, has been now using the MONOLOGUE airwaves to issue apologies as well as clarifying that he was never physically assaulted during his arrest as had been reported by some unscrupulous persons. In this audio clip, Tam Baryoh issues an unreserved apology to the country and to President Koroma which has been repeatedly aired on Saturday 22nd November 2014. The following are his words which you can listen to on this audio clip: ----------- APOLOGY by David Tam Baryoh as aired worldwide on Star Radio ----------- The Good Governance Programme called MONOLOGUE had two guests during a radio discussion. In the course of undertaking our journalistic job, several unwarranted comments were made during the programme. It is the duty of the producer and presenter to regulate comments on such issues that were raised. Following the radio discussions on the programme, it came out clearly from our listeners that issues discussed have a likelihood of aggravating national tensions that may precipitate unwarranted actions that may not auger well for peace and stability. In view of this particular programme, we are tendering an unreserved apology [for] an inconvenience that this may have caused to His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma of the Republic of Sierra Leone. We will like to assure the general public that the MONOLOGUE programme that is loved by many will continue to uphold the professionalism, integrity and ethics which are the hallmark of the programme. Management is sorry for any professional setback and will like to assure all that MONOLOGUE is here to stay and ready to uphold the highest professional integrity that it deserves. We encourage all and ask everybody to please turn attention to the fight against Ebola. God bless Sierra Leone.
