Sierra Leones Military and Police support to the fight against - TopicsExpress

Sierra Leones Military and Police support to the fight against Ebola has been splendid. Our Security men, under Major-General S.O. Williams and Inspector-General Francis Munu, deserve pats on the back. The military not only provided doctors but have been providing technical and engineering services on several projects including Kerry Town where in this photo I took yesterday, President Koroma, Health Minister & Information Minister are shown walking with Captain Kemokai of the Sierra Leone Army and a British Military officer. In the other photo is shown our Police boss, I.G. Munu, Training School Commandant Biango and Director of Police Training AIG Aiah Komba with MRCs Mr. Jalloh whose NGO was the lead in bringing in tons of relief items that Bill Clinton and others sent to Sierra Leone. The Police have given the Health Ministry the Police Training School (PTS) Main Hall to transform into a Medical Stores. Meanwhile, His Excellency the President has yesterday given his executive blessings to a proposal to utilise the entire PTS massive complex for the fight against Ebola. A second Ebola Center is proposed to be built in the other end of the compound. This means immediate evacuation of all residential families from the barracks therein. Prior to arrival of the President at the complex yesterday, a meeting held with the IG, the SEA to the President (Yours Truly) and the police barracks residents to be soon evacuated, was very positive. The barracks is to be speedily renovated into temporary residence for doctors and nurses serving Ebola patients. These doctors and nurses have been facing extreme stigmatisation from landlords, neighbours and even their families. Sierra Leone owes these brave medical frontliners so much. In that vein, a very good news is the recuperation of almost 30 Ebola positive patients from the One Week old PTS Ebola Treatment Center which is 100% manned by Sierra Leone doctors and nurses. These Ebola patients have been moved to Convalescent Wards. They have high chances of total recoveries. Sadly, the Center has also recorded over 20 deaths of patients in past one week. Patients were admitted from various parts of Provinces as well as Western Area. They have all been buried. May their souls rest in peace. Indeed, the task at hand is huge and virtually nobody in Government underestimates it anymore. We know we are facing huge, huge challenges but with God on our side and Intercessory Prayers, we are moving FORWARD! Sierra Leone will one day overcome Ebola.
