Sierra is taking government this semester and I gave her a 4 part - TopicsExpress

Sierra is taking government this semester and I gave her a 4 part project on The Diminishing Influence Of Biblical Values In Public Life Today. Part 2 of her project was an editorial to a newspaper and I wanted to share a few pieces of it. She begins with .....I am writing you today to express deep concern about our elected officials of our governmental system and the values upon which they rely on to create, form, and execute their decisions..... Sierra later adds .....Our once great nation has lost its complete sense of direction, why? Could it be to its wavering faith in God, how we as a nation have walked away from God instead of towards Him. How do we expect our nation to prosper when we are not placing our governments values with the One who has the power to do so. Why should God bless a nation when the very President we elected into office has been quoted as stating Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation. Our government is withering away from the values our ancestors have worked so hard to establish..... She includes many quotes like this from Emma Willard .....The government of the United States is acknowledged by the wise and good of other nations to be the most free, impartial and righteous government of the world; but all agree, that for such a government to be sustained many years, the principles of truth and righteousness taught in the Holy Scriptures, must be practiced...... Sierra then wraps it up with .....Our very first president George Washington states It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly implore His protection and favor. Is there anyone or anything more worthy of entrusting our great nation to other than the One and only God who created it? Id post the whole thing but it was 2 pages long. Needless to say it was well thought out and I was very proud!!! Sierra Bouthner
