Simply because you sell oil and steal part of the money does not - TopicsExpress

Simply because you sell oil and steal part of the money does not entitle you to cook figures and announce phantom economic growth when all the major indices namely,Employment,Manufacturing,Farming,Trading, are demonstrably on the decline. I do not see the above beyond the commonplace and petty construct of overzealous opposition leaned armchair analysts in the beer parlour and on the social media. It reeks of ignorance and comes across as a quintessential example of how not a putative stateman seeking Presidency should understand issues. Any prepared leader who is not anachronistic ,oil obsessed, and fixated about a distant past when Agriculture and Oil held sway as the greatest contributors to our GDP would understand that our economic growth is no longer chiefly a function of data flowing from the oil sector alone, whether or not part of what accrues are stolen or not. That manufacturing and employment are on the decline are essentially regrettable. However, a 21st century leader should appreciate that the surge in sectors like services (accounting for 51.8% of national GDP from less than 20% pre rebasing), Telecommunications(8.5% from less than 0.8%) and Nollywood (1.42%) should compensate for whatever decline observable in Agriculture and trading, and pointedly evinces the type of growth we are talking about ,albeit I agree it can be more inclusive and sustainable. The rest of the speech is just bland banal, and platitudinous. At least we have heard more ambitious narratives from aspirants of same partisan persuasion detailing to us pragmatic panacea to the Nigerian quandary. I heard one talked about power devolution adoption as the key to unleashing our locked potentials, and reducing acrimonies involved in the jostle for national leadership, the type that had fostered and festered Bokoharam ,which Buharis pantomime, which has now veered to a volteface in a bid to be politically correct, at a time had favoured. It is rhetoric ridden and bereft of delivery strategies. dailypost.ng/2014/10/15/full-text-buharis-speech-formal-declaration-presidency/
