Since 1984, 20,000 people lost their lives in Bhopal, India after a chemical gas spill from a pesticide factory. The factory was owned by . Union Carbide Corporation (UCC), the same company that helped develop the atom bomb for the US. 2/12/14: While protesting in Delhi, Krishna Bais eyes grew red as she recalled how her sons were blinded by the gas and later died. Left with sight, heart and breathing problems, she got 35,000 rupees ($566; £360) as compensation.
