Since Cayelon has jet lag weve been up since 2:30am. This morning - TopicsExpress

Since Cayelon has jet lag weve been up since 2:30am. This morning we took a walk after our 6am breakfast and passed a homeless family sleeping on the street together: the mother and father slept next to each other in opposite directions (heads at opposite ends), the mother with her back to the street, curled around and facing their daughter, who looked about three. She had on a little hooded sweatshirt with the pretend ears sticking up from the top of the hood. I sleep like that mother sleeps, curled around and facing Cayelon, and Cayelon sleeps like the little girl, facing me and holding on. Every day families suffer, some more because they have nowhere to give their child a bath or proper rest or a safe place to play and eat and be free. It couldve been us. The terrible indifference that renders families victim to this kind of suffering breaks us down, but its the love that abides in spite of that suffering that also breaks our hearts. We have so much work to do, I think starting with seeing ourselves in others. But dont let that be where you stop the work.
