Since Michael Brown and all the issues we have been having with our police I have been thinking so hard about Martin Luther King and today. I even had to read a book on MLK to the kids the other day and it reminded me and taught me something VERY IMPORTANT....what I learned about MLK was his most essential message he had to give...over the Black Panthers and everyone else who were promoting violence, Martin Luther King knew and said that PEACE, and equality, could be maintained without violence, without bitterness and without hatred. That violence should be met with soul, that bitterness should be met with love. That all peoples, black, white, brown, woman or man are equal and now we know....in 2015 that CIVIL RIGHTS are a continuous fight for our equality, that even today, as it has only been 50 years since dark brown people had to demand their rights are still suffering from racism, that brown people and Mexicans must still fight to maintain their rights to live in lands that were originally and historically theirs, and since women were given their their right to vote we STILL must demand equal pay and rights. People are calling this the New Civil Rights Era and I am absolutely certain that that is true which is why today we must say it even to ourselves, that WE HAVE A DREAM that all peoples are created equal and that all are treated fairly and that their needs are taken seriously. To break the system you must first work within it but most importantly you must first become AWARE, then maybe someday we can say WE ARE FREE AT LAST, LET FREEDOM RING.
