Since Robin said she saw that movie The Ugly Dachshund and it made her want a Dane, Im curious as to what possessed you to want a Dane, or for that matter, whatever favorite breed you settled on. For me, wed had a GSD, a couple of Chows, a temporary Husky (basically fostered him for a neighbor kid), and then it went to Danes. We did some contractor work for an elderly man that had a fawn Dane. I got to meet him and it was all downhill from there. I got my first Dane, who in hindsight, was a very faulted example of the breed. He was a smart and sweet dog, but hed been horribly cropped (I was ignorant of these things back then), and my vet couldnt make them stand. So he had one up, one down...lol. His name was Gus, and again, he was a sweetie. He was a fawn, and so good natured. I lost him to bloat (long story, but again out of ignorance) and it was devastating for me. After his loss, I made it a PRIORITY to educate myself about the breed. So, what made you settle on your given love for a breed, or even just your love for a good natured mutt??
