Since Shamila challenged me to post a list of ten books that had a meaningful impact on my life, Im gonna accept it and nominate Kosala, Shashiprabha, Chanaka and Binku. You have gazillion years to accept the challenge. I havent read much classics, neither Sinhala nor English, tbh so dont judge me. I have always been in to books, reading and writing both and I seldom engage in reading now. My Goodreads account has a say in this cos Im 3 books behind my own challenge which is...20. I remember writing and translating my first book in Grade 4, leafing my way into English literature through Chamber of Secrets in Grade 6, getting caught for reading Dangamallage Danga Weda in Buddhism period in Grade 7 and a teacher asking whether Im carrying a Bible when I took Dan Browns The Lost Symbol with me to classes in Grade 12. So yeah I have always been like this :) 1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, cos well yeah obviously. 2. Sherlock Holmes; චන්දන මෙන්ඩිස් translations, specially CM cos those translations were so frigging amazing. 3.මඩොල් දූව by මාටින් වික්‍රමසිංහ 4. Famous Five by Enid Blyton 5. Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer 6. Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown 7. The Little House series: ගංගා නිරෝෂිනී සුදුවැලිකන්ද translations (by Laura Ingalls Wilder) 8. හරි පුදුම ඉස්කෝලේ; ලීලානන්ද ගමාච්චි translation (Totto Chan - the little girl at the window by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi) 9. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, this actually taught me that it matters being a wallflower at some points. 10. ගමනක මුල by ගුණදාස අමරසේකර I cant remember all the books I read when I was small and these arent in any order as well but they - one way or the other - shaped me, lectured me and made me pause and think.
