This is the perfect time of year to share this story of giving and generosity. I received a call from a parent of an 8 year old boy. Collin is a student at Nash El. School who was in an assembly listening to me talking about the Dream Playground. He went home and told his parents Scott and Christy he wanted to help raise money for the playground. Collin and his mother went on the KDPP Facebook site. Christy called me and invited me to their home so I could meet Collin and he could tell me about his fundraising efforts. Collin and his bother Logan were waiting at the door to greet me. Collin explained that he raised $69.00 at his familys Thanksgiving gathering in River Falls WI. He prepared for the visit by making a display that contained facts he wrote about the playground. He also added an email from Nashs principal Mr. Pitts and the KDPP logo to his display. He got 18 members of his family involved. Nana helped with the advertising and Uncle Craig helped chant the KDPP Can WE build it ? Yes WE can ! slogan. Nana &Papa, Craig & Sandy, the Gulbransons and the Taylors all contributed to the success of Collins fundraising. It is so heartwarming that Christy and Scott are teaching their children the importance of giving back to the community. It was so awesome when I asked Collin, what did you like best about my presentation about the Dream Playground? And his response was, That you said kids with special needs can play there. Then I asked, Can I give you a hug? His response was YES!
