Since Tuesday, more than 2000 personnel including 1750 firefighters and over 200 incident management personnel with support from other emergency agencies have been working tirelessly in challenging and hazardous conditions to protect their communities. In excess of 300 000 hectares of grass, scrub and bushland have burnt at rural incidents across the state. Today, many communities will be suffering from the losses experienced. We offer condolences to those who have sustained losses. We will be working in these fire affected communities for days and possibly weeks to make them safe. We want to take a moment this morning to thank our tireless firefighters who have been out in this heatwave since Monday fighting over 400 fires. Your messages of support mean a lot to our members and well try to collate some and pass them on to the firegrounds.
