Since Whole Foods started selling dead bunnies Ive been looking for other places to buy my bunny greens. For some reason, I always thought that farmers markets were pricey places to get nut cheeses and soy candles. I couldnt have been more wrong. Im fortunate enough to live in a place where many of the farmers actually load up the truck to bring in their organic produce and sell for a fraction of the price I was paying. As if that wasnt good enough, they also GIVE me their green waste (beet leaves, carrot and fennel tops, etc)! I spent $8 between two booths and came home with some beautiful escarole, a ton of dandelion, some gigantic carrots and two huge bags full of bunny greens. All six buns are set for the week. If you havent explored your local farmers market yet, I encourage you to do so! And dont be shy about asking for the green tops- all the vendors were more than happy to make sure they werent wasted!
