Since its inception, the galaxy has known many a war. Some were small, some were large. Some were glorious crusades, others the pettiest of grudges writ large (the maternal units of various leaders seemed to be popular here). All were bloody. But never, never did the galaxy know war like that which struck the Imperium in its Twilight. The sides were not content to spill blood, no. They insisted on tearing the fabric of the galaxy itself asunder, wormholes were dragged to and fro by the Ghosts living in them, supernovas were set off by mad adventurers, and even Ion clouds were tampered with by the militaries of various sides. Although the sentient cost was impressive as well. The Arborec, in particular, perished in countless numbers against the mighty fleets of the L1z1x, perversions of the old Guardians that they were. Souls died as well as bodies, as various coalitions turned to deception of the true Guardians, raising monuments to their glory whilst secretly plotting their overthrow. But unbeknownst to all, as the Ghosts plotted from their unassailable galactic crevices, as L1Z1X dreadnoughts massed, press-ganging scientists into service for them, ready to take on a half-formed alliance designed to allow the galaxy to continue to be bled dry..... the nomads of Saar struck from their asteroid bases, cleaving through unprepared and astonished fleets to liberate artifacts and free technological scholars from their chains. The Guardians had entrusted them with a seemingly impossible task, set in jest. But under the glorious leadership of Elder Tal Gur-Arye, who knew not the word impossible, this mission was accomplished. Astounded and open-mouthed, the Guardians spread word of the feat far and wide, leading all to bend the knee in awe. All hail the former wretches of the Galaxy, who long suffered and wandered before finding their new home in the Imperial Palace! All hail his Imperial Majesty who rules us now with wisdom and daring! Let his stewardship of the galaxy be long and fruitful! May the bards sing of his feats until the end of the stars!
