Since its mental health awareness week I thought I would put in my 2 cents about this topic.Something I have been hearing about lately is that if a person talks about suicide or their depression etc it means they wont commit suicide and are only attention seeking.that their situation shouldnt be taken seriously because the only people who supposodely commit suicide never tell anyone or give warning signs. As a person who suffers from mental health problems I know this is not true.Abandoning a person because they mention death etc and assuming they are attention seeking and will never kill themselves and therefore worthy to be ignored is THE WORST thing that people can do.especially because depression and hallucinations and other mental problems tend to make a person isolate anyway.(some people have voices telling them to stay by themselves etc. ) I realize mental illness is exhausting on the person and friends and family but being alone in mental illness would be horrible.Anytime someone mentions depression or feeling down or death its worth paying attention to.
