Since one has tried to answer the question, I post the question up again this day, and I will post the answer to the question too. Today, I leave a question, a question to see how well many of you know the scriptures. Understand though, this question is not as it appears. If you are unsure, do not answer. I will give you some places to read in the Bible though about this question. And if you study this scripture, and ask the right questions, you will know the Answer. Q: Are we suppose to give money tithes? Scripture to look up. Deuteronomy 12:10-25 10 But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety; 11 Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD: 12 And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest. ___ Hebrews 7 1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. 4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. 5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham: 6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. 7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. 8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. 9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. 10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him. 11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; 27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the peoples: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. 28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. ___ These are the scriptures that show the answer to the question, you may use other scriptures to help you answer. I assure you, the more you have, the easier it will become. I will answer later. Take the time, pray about it, but answer very carefully. It was many things, but never once money. The only scripture that mentions money, is Deuteronomy 14. It tells us to sell Tithes, if it is too far to give, (because you are suppose to give it where God puts His name, like the Temple of God...) To buy Tithes there. That is right, YOU eat your Tithes. Along with your household, and we see this happens with more Tithes too. You are allowed Wine, or Strong drink. Want a little Vodka? God says it is okay. (Do not get drunk though). As we read through the Bible, we might think of times it tells us to give tithes. Proverbs 3:9-10 9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. ___ So when we read this, we think of needing to give Tithes to be blessed, this is not a metaphor though, it literally means the fruits, and increase. He never says money, like many preachers do now say to do. Malachi 3:8-11 8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. ___ Okay, so we see again we need to give tithes... but look, fruits, vine, never is it said money, and never in any of the laws is it money. No, we have to look to the laws to understand what Tithes are, hence the scriptures I posted in the first post. Some argue they did this because they did not have money then... How can we buy Tithes in Deuteronomy 14 then? It talks about money, and there has been money even since the book of Genesis, so that is incorrect. But the last nail in the head, is when we start to hear about Tithes in Hebrews 7. Hebrews 7:12 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. ___ Knowing more of the old laws, there are times when we do not eat our tithes, because big parts of it is for the Levite, for the widows, for the orphans. I can not see anywhere, where it says we are permitted to give Tithes to any other than Levites. There are a few other things, such as the new testament not ordering to give tithes. The trick comes in, when we ask what is a Tithe? Was it ever money? How did it become money? From my study, after Jesus died, and was risen, after the Second Temple was destroyed, some which call themselves Jews started the practice of doing it as money. Regardless of scripture. Catholics took it on, and it is important for them to donate money for the forgiveness of certain things, or to take time off purgatory... But no where in the scriptures is it money. I have heard many people preach on Tithes, and something I notice, is that they often call the money seed or fruits they have changed the meaning, so it would match up to scripture if they were not careful. I have given Tithes for years, even more so than the percentage asked too. But God has shown not to do that. The Answer is No, we are not to give Tithes as Money, and it is iffy if we can even still give Tithes. Thank you for trying to answer, and do not feel bad for not getting it.
