Since so many missed church this morning I guess I need to double - TopicsExpress

Since so many missed church this morning I guess I need to double up on my observation of todays service lol!. Actually, this was an outstanding presentation by Pastor Rhodes Woolly. Heck, he was down on his knees at one point emulating the utter despair and anguish that Hagar must have felt after she and Ishmael were banished by Abraham. For 14 years and despite being a servant of Abraham and surrogate mother for his son, they lived in relative harmony with his wife Sarah. Then another child is born, this time by Sarah who had been unable to bear a child. Now there was discord and eventually Sarah demanded that they leave. Her son Issac should inherit all the power and authority normally reserved for the first born. Hagar and her son Ishmael had to leave and they did. So later in the desert, famished and without water, she cried out to God. He replied that everything will be ok. Trust in Him and he will lead you to where you need to go. She obeyed and soon found everything they needed to survive. The point of this timeless spiritual message from Genesis 21: 8-21 is that sometimes, life is very unfair, even though your efforts, like Hagars willingness to bear Abraham a child, was guided by God. I dont know about you but that message really hit home for me. If you live long enough, you will find yourself on your knees asking Why me?. You will feel alone, be terrible hurt, fearful and insecure. The answer can eventually be found by asking yourself Who am I? If you listen to the words of this song by Casting Crowns you will know the answer - you are a child a God. You are special, worth saving and a bold purposeful life lays ahead of you. God hears, he sees, he loves and just like Hagar thousands of years ago, will help you go in the right direction. youtube/watch?v=hMPCNrWNCg8
