Since the 70s I ve participated as guest speaker in countless university courses. Last week I participated in an introduction to world religions class. What I experienced was very inspiring and hopeful. Professor Sanchezs [Carlos Albizu Univ.] overview of Lukumi is among the best Ive ever witnessed. The students were delightful, engaged, respectful, and on point. The discourse was intelligent. Their capacity to grasp substantive context, metaphysical & sacred geomancy concepts of Lukumi was exquisite. I was asked: what has changed over the years since the 1993 Supreme Court victory. What came to my mind was the number of scholars teaching about Lukumi, the quality, and level of genuine student interest. There is a palpable trend among the new generation indicating the future brings the values of religious tolerance. This class was first class example.
