Since there have been quite a few new followers, I thought I would take a moment to share some information about the charity we support. Our family personally donates to and collects donations for The Forgotten Child charity. The Forgotten Child supports children in Bexar County who have been removed from their homes by Child Protective Services. They provide gifts for major holidays, back to school needs, immediate placement needs, and comfort items for court. Many of these children are removed from terrible environments, and more often then not, have next to nothing to call their own. We chose this organization because we believe in the mission of the founder Zenobia Coverson. She is a wonderful, driven, compassionate woman who inspired us to help spread her message that no child should ever be forgotten. Unlike other local charities, 100% of the donations go directly to children in need. There are no paid employees. The entire operation is volunteers trying to make a difference in the lives of children who have so little. Like we posted earlier, we will have a green donation bin in the driveway no later than Thanksgiving night. It will be there until after Christmas. However, we take donations 365 days a year so you can feel free to drop things off on the porch or send us a message. We will continue to post items that are specific needs, but nothing goes unused. Popular items are sports items, barbies, stuffed animals, games, books, pillow pets, cars/trucks (regular and RC), coloring books and crayons, grooming items for older children, play doh, clothing, dolls, jewelry, hair accessories, anything baby related (powder, wipes, diapers, clothing, bottles, sippy cups, etc.). If its kid related, we can use it. Heres a link to an article about Miss Zenobia and her mission. Just a fun fact for you, Miss Zenobia is a kid at heart. Her favorite food is pepperoni pizza. :-) She is also a long time resident of Schertz! We hope she inspires you as much as she has inspired us. We have a special place in our hearts for her and consider her a part of our family. If you find it in your hearts to do so, please help us make sure that NO child is forgotten this Christmas.
