Since this is my first time working on a topic, Im going to quickly set down some guidelines about this monthly topic. Were all familiar with the old-fashioned trope of actors being actors and directors being directors, but during the Classic Movie Era some actors started to begin producing their own films and even headed into directing their own films. Today were familiar with that (Clint Eastwood and Ben Affleck come to mind as a few examples of actors whove also become directors) but back then it was very surprising to see a familiar actors name listed as either a producer or director of a film or even more films during their career. Ill be showing some of these fantatsic individuals throughout this month (as long as school doesnt get too interfering with my schedule) so Ill quickly explain what Ill do here: If an actor directs in a film as well as star in it, it counts as a subject to be discussed here. If an actor only directs a film, Ill discuss the history of that particular film and offer my opinions to the mentioned actor/actress of how their directorial style appeared onscreen. If an actor made his directorial debut in the Classic Movie Era but then directed a lot of films in the Modern Movie Era that one film will be discussed and compared to that individuals later work as a director. Hopefully this will help out in our discussions for these fascinating individuals as well as delving deeper into the catacombs of film history. Really looking forward to what all of you have to say.
