Since watching that video I posted on a while back about how it feels for someone with ASD in a supermarket, I have been observing Luke in these situations and it is at these times he definitely walks so close I may as well be giving him a piggy back and am constantly falling out of my shoes. When I ask him why, he says he needs to. I think it must be his way of telling me he needs the security and cannot cope with the sounds/sight. Has poor vision anyway bless him and is hypersensitive to sounds/lights/touch. I still find it really sweet and touching how he calls me Mummy at the age of 16 and 5ft 7in tall. This is obviously due to his learning disabilities and developmental age of 6 yrs old. At the end of the day he wouldnt be our Lukie who everyone loves if he was any different.. Meltdowns can be a bit more extreme than before. A 6 yr old in a 16 yr old body having a meltdown isnt always pretty, just thankful hes not violent with it but very very sulky and moody when he has one. I can usually make him laugh out of it. If I cant then I know hes over the boiling point and have to leave him. Love the joys, fun and challenges of Autism even though it can be challenging and very very repetitive.
