[ Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 17th October ] Singapore racegoers were given a mirror into the future on Friday night — with star galloper Affleck asserting his authority in the seventh event. In his first attempt beyond 1200m — the son of Battle Paint did it with ease, saluting by two lengths from the Patrick Shaw trained Rock Esprit. Aided by a moderate tempo, Affleck Horseform was simply too slick for his rivals when leading throughout. Though not a noted leader, Danny Beasley virtually had no choice — after Affleck displayed brilliant gate speed from the inside draw. Under a hold entering the straight, Affleck displayed a sharp turn of foot passing the 300m to draw three lengths clear. Eased down over the concluding stages, Affleck easily justified his very short quote (S$6). Overall Affleck recorded the quickest time of the night, with his closing sectional marked six lengths inside standard. On Timeform ratings, Affleck improved marginally on his first-up performance with more to come on career best form. Following up on his domination of the juvenile ranks, Affleck appears poised to clean sweep the More Magic 3YO Championships. In a similar mould to War Affair, Affleck remains a cut above his rivals, with the beaten brigade unlikely to turn the tables in the final leg of the three-race series. Afflecks strongest opposition looks to come from the third event on Friday night, with Super Winner Horseform and Wimbledon Horseform both impressing. The former finished second behind Affleck two back and franked that form when defeating Wimbledon narrowly. Both gallopers possess Timeform Master Ratings below Affleck, however in terms of the 3YO rankings they are the next in line. Having contested Fridays event over 1100m, it is unlikely the two will contest the Magic Millions 2014 More Magic 3YO Championship [1600m], however they still should be followed closely.
