"Singing and making merry you’ll find Robin Hood and his men, downing a cup of mead. Whilst King Robert Baratheon quaffs a horn of ale. His wife, the Lioness of the West pretends to sip at summerwine—while really she’s drinking faster than her portly lord. Watching some drunken hobbits is a wizard garbed in grey; he alternates between wine and tea, but mostly keeps to his pipe. A man with a magic blue eye takes quick gulps from his hip flask, muttering to a tall man in half-moon spectacles. He does not drink but sucks on sourly sweet lemon candies. Four boys who fancy themselves to be men drink to adventures they will have; three of them knock back Firewhiskey, but one drinks a potion instead. And tables away, and years away too, are two boys and a girl. These youngsters lap up butterbeer, still safe from what’s to come. At the door bursts in a pirate, his dreadlocks wet from the sea. He shouts for some rum before introducing himself twice (captain, captain…). Behind him stands a man with a hook instead of a hand; he swears to not drink until he’s had his revenge. The Viper, Prince of Dorne, wrinkles his nose as he tastes some Arbor Gold. His daughters all giggle and laugh as they finish off the (Dornish) Red. And a big maid dressed in a man’s armor rolls her eyes, because she prefers cider instead. A powerful young queen gains strength from soured horse milk, and when she needs more power she drinks the horses’ blood. Beside her sits the brother of a man who’d seek to woo her. His cup contains only sea water. In the shadows sits a girl with a dark braid, who looks more like she is crouching. She only drinks water and watches everyone warily. Her friend is small and dark, too busy whistling a sad four-noted tune to drink. There are many and more, sitting round the fireplace and at the bar and tables. More are coming in, too, but the space seems to allow it. So look at the menu yourself, my man/lady, and order what you will. For here you are among friends, and always will they be."
