Sisters, if you have a legitimate question related to the Deen, - TopicsExpress

Sisters, if you have a legitimate question related to the Deen, the first thing you should not do is inbox a non-Mahram brother for the answer. The second thing you should do is ask yourself if you have first asked the question(s) to all the maharim of your family? If none, or none could answer, have you then asked all the sisters you know? If none or none could answer, then have you searched through all the Islamic tapes and videos and books you have for that answer? If not, have you then asked one of your maharim to ask the Imam of your masjid, or if they are connected to any Tulab or `Ulema such that they can ask him your question(s) on your behalf? You must go through all these avenues before you can claim to be talking to a brother due to necessity. Otherwise it just seems like you are asking a non-Mahram brother on Facebook just so you can talk to him. Talking to non-Mahrams is not haram per se, but talking without necessity is makruh, and it is better to avoid anything that has a high likelihood of leading to sin as Allah taala doesnt just say stay away from zina, He says do not even approach it. None of us should feel we are safe. So we really need to ask ourselves why we are talking to this brother or sister. I myself am guilty because if someone has a legitimate question I know I can answer I feel obliged to answer because we do not know the situation of the person asking. But when the questions become too frequent, or the speech becomes too extensive, or we delve into the realm of chit-chat, joking and loling, or worse, straying from Islamic topics, it becomes a type of socializing, it becomes a problem. Lets all do our part to avoid the freemixing in sha Allah.
