Sitting in Starbucks and the reality of 1:2 kids being diagnosed with a disability is hitting hard. Its here. Now. Its not something that is going to happen. It is happening. Hands are flapping. Speech is delayed. Two of the four kids at the table are trying their best to communicate and bond with the other two kids. The moms are sipping their coffees and trying not to look obvious as they glance at my pile of books sitting next to me: IEPs, Common Core, Disabilities. A whole new language of education that if they arent already familiar with, its in their near future.
