Six candidates have filed to run for three open seats on the District 508 School Board in St. Peter. Filings closed on Tuesday, and the election is Nov. 5. Incumbent Jon Carlson filed, as did newcomers Chris Harmes, Drew Dixon, Charlie Potts, Keith Stelter, and Dan Bergeson. Each position carries a four-year term. Neither Robert Lambert nor Peter Nelson, both incumbents, filed to run for re-election. School Board Member Marty Duncan has indicated he will resign from the board effective Dec. 31. The School Board would then appoint a new member to serve the final two years of Duncan’s term. The League of Women Voters and St. Peter Area Chamber of Commerce are partnering to present candidate forums Oct. 22 and 24 at the St. Peter Community Center. The forums will focus on school and city races. There are no elections for county board, state senate, or state house.
