Six injured in Central Kashmir clashes: At least six people, including two policemen, were injured during clashes between people and government forces in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday. Witnesses said a huge group of people took out a protest march from Larsun, aboout 5 kms from the district centre. The protesters were marching against the death of a youth in India’s Rajasthan. Abid Ahmad Gania, 21, who was training at Darul Uloom Faizani Madina in Gujarat’s Ahmadabad since past eight months, was found dead in Udiapur. Abid, hailing from Larsun, had left the seminary around fifteen days ago. “He called my brother yesterday and told him that he was running short of money and wanted to come home,” Hilal Ahmad, who runs a Quran teaching centre in Larsun, said. Hilal, after receiving many complaints about Abid from the locals, had motivated him to take up the training in Gujarat. “He remained absent from the seminary in Gujarat for many days. He seemed to be in some kind of problem but didn’t explain over the phone. Therefore my brother asked him to return,” he said. The protesters were asked to halt at Baroosa by the forces which led to clashes. Police fired several rounds in air and used teargas shells to disperse the protesters. Six people including an Assistant Inspector of Police and a Head Constable were injured during the clashes.
