Six months ago Daniel Kilalea and I presented our proposal to the Zayed Future Energy Prize executive committee for Boomtown Productions to produce the finalists films for their awards ceremony. 21 countries, 26 finalists, and almost three months on the road between us, meeting with world leaders such as Al Gore, President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson & the previous president of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed and then having our films seen by over 3,500 in a packed out Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) hall including dignitaries such as the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai & the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi... Straight up. Im feeling rather smug to be honest. Films will be online soon. Thanks to my team for all your support and hard work. We truly delivered something amazing. And thanks to Kelly Power for putting up with all my late nights and travels away. Youve been a wonderful and supportive partner. Next step is to produce a 20 min doco on the awards week itself with the finalists here in Abu Dhabi.
