Six months ago we rescued a beautiful 46 lb. LabX, whos now 18 months old. While on vacation a few weeks ago she became very sick with constant uncontrollable tremors, urinary incontinence, and wouldnt eat anything. After several days of getting nowhere with one of the only Vets in a tiny town in N.C., and our baby now weighing 40 lbs, we were rushed her 11 hours home to our Vet. She was hospitalized and diagnosed with Typical Addisons, and was in severe Addisonian crisis. It was heart wrenching to see her so very sick. I am still having anxiety over all of this. She was started on Prednisone, and Fludrocortisone. One week later we ordered the Percorten-V 25 mg and began her with 1.6 ML, and 5 mg prednisone, which is going down tomorrow to 2.5 mg. Seven days after beginning the Percorten we didnt feel she was acting right so we had her chemistry done again and it came back good, Potassium 3.9 and Na 139. She is still wetting all the time, and seems depressed, not chewing on her bones or playing, sleeping all the time. The Vet did a Urinalysis, not a C&S, and said her pH was high and thought she may have a UTI so she was put on Amoxicillin for the next 14 days. She has also started to have some tremors again since yesterday. Has anyone else experienced these tremors? Im looking for any helpful advice, or knowledge from other canine Addisons owners. I am seeing a lot of talk about low dose Percorten, what is considered low dose? To date we are $3000 out-of-pocket and for every chemistry drawn its another $76. We know we arent the only ones with an AD dog, but right now we feel completely alone!
