Skin Infections Expert Post from Susan Tofte, RN, MS, FNP: Patients who have #eczema are more susceptible to skin infections and those infections are often the reason for a flare up and the cause of a prolonged/persistent flare. Staph infections (commonly seen in eczema patients due to the impaired skin barrier) are generally identified by pustules or “pus bumps” on the skin (mainly the arms and legs, but can be in other areas). Generally antibiotics (both topical and oral) will effectively treat the infection and bring the flare back under control. Sometimes bleach baths are effective. What has been your experience with skin infections and how have you treated?
