update on leg surgery # 4 on ankle. surgery was on Jan 2nd ended up staying in hospital 9 days, then off to rehab it is now 16 days 5 days past anticipated release, as wound will not close and still bleeding and had to see surgeon today as they saw signs of Osteomyelitis (Bone Infection) the most common of which is staphylococcus aureus, This serious infection can occur from a number of sources: • It may enter bone through an injury, such as an open fracture with the bone ends piercing the skin. • It can spread from elsewhere in the body or through the bloodstream. • It can result from a chronic foot wound or infection. To diagnose the condition, the foot and ankle surgeon examined the area and ordered blood tests and x-rays and caught it early enough to save my foot or worse. My Treatment will entale another surgery and antibiotic therapy, which they started today. So I will remain here in rehab center in Dallas till Friday or Monday and then go back in the hospitalto have surgical Debridement which is a medical term referring to the removal of dead, damaged, or infected tissue to improve the healing potential of the remaining healthy tissue. After surgery they will decide if I will go back to rehab, wound care hospital or long term nursing home till infection is gone , wound closed then go back to rehab. to hopefully walk again without external braces. GOOD NEWS IS BROKEN SKREWS and bone fragments and ankle were removed so pain is easing for first time in 4 years!!!!! believe it or not my depression is over, Im going to take this time to rebuild my mattress company, I turned everything over to God and am focusing on moving forward and finding myself and regain my confidence in myself and abilities I thought I lost. so please say a prayer for me all goes well and send a few find a word books or enquirer or star crosswords or just chat on facebook to keep mind sharp, and hopes high .
