Slight delay with updating FB today...internet issues! Our day begun with an early rise and vists to a Marys Meals under 6 centre at Mkwanda. More than 200 wee ones can be crammed into the dank, dark and tiny space but all that is set to change this summer if Holyrood Secondary YP agree to decorate the space...no pressure, honest ;) While Tom and Fiona got to sing and play along with the children, Maureen was busy using her negotiating skills at a meeting with the Malawi National Library. Then it was off to the lovely Chitsime PS to catch-up with our friends Grace and Estery. We even got Maureen back in front of a class - she taught English to Standard 7...and all captured on film ;) Back at GBC this afternoon to host the senior leaders training course graduation we unfortunatly had to delay as children were rioting in the surrounding streets, protesting for their right to an education. Pupils are not being taught at the moment as some teachers in Malawi have not been paid for 9 months. We appealed to some that although protesting was their right, they should put down the sticks and stop thowing stones. One boy was brought into GBC injured as he appeared to have been stoned - this was a stark reminder that we are indeed in Africa.
