Slightly long, but here is my reading of the current political situation in Telengana/AP.... KKR (Kiran Kumar Reddy) is playing his role perfectly in this beautifully (politically speaking) orchestrated game by Congress leadership in Delhi. Here is the scenario that is most likely to play out: • Congress with President’s help will pass T Bill. • KKR will continue his rant and so called fight against central leadership and end up being a Martyr for the cause of United AP. • I can already see some of my friends gravitating to him and calling him a hero. • He will act as if he is not interested, but ultimately succumb to supporters’ pressure and form a party and run for elections (Seemandhra) in May 2014. • All the senior Seemandhra congress leaders will find refuge in this new party. They might win some seats, but definitely play spoiler to YSRCP and TDP’s plans in Seemandhra. • They would have killed three birds in one shot. Stop the exodus of senior congress leaders, stop the surge of Jagan and put a dent in TDP’s plans. • If not this term, hopefully by next elections, KKR’s party will morph back into Congress and live happily ever after. My reasons for making this prediction are: • No Congress CM has ever taken such tough and openly antagonistic stand against central leadership and survived as a CM. • It would not have been difficult for central leadership to appoint a Telengana CM and make their life easier for them. • KKR has no mass base of his own, so his political future was non-existent without Congress. This is his only way to stay relevant and build that base. • KKR was just a convenient pawn in the hands of central leadership to begin with. He got the CM post as a candidate of central leadership. He had no mass base of political backing at the assemble/state level.
