Slovenia and Croatia sometimes argue over being the birthplace of Tesla. Spomenka Siddhani lives in Croatia and sent us this note about the subject: I m glad that Croats are considering me as Croat ,because my ancestors roots are Croatian family Draganic from town Zadar .As they were noble blood in 16 th century they came to Lika area in Croatia and stayed there . In lika they came through Novi Vinodol .The ancestors from my mother side -Kalinic ,also were Croatian noble origin from Novi Vinodol . My grandfather due to circumstances had to go to Bosnian krajina (in that time Turkish area of Croatia ) and he married there Ortodox girl and so he bacame Orthodox too.He had his front teeths projecting forward in his jaw-so people called him Tesla -by the tool wich they use for trimming wood .,so that s where Tesla surname comes from . It use to be actually nickname which became a surname . My grandfather was officer in Lika regiment ,and my father was Ortodox priest . TESLA .
