Slowly and steadily I will post about a long journey from Kolkata - TopicsExpress

Slowly and steadily I will post about a long journey from Kolkata to Udaipur covering many miles on my Fiat 1.6 GTX on some media platform which can accept my photographs along with my essay in a savvy manner. I wish somebody can suggest a blog platform as up to now I have been writing quite a few articles about my trans India drives on blogger but now it is time to move on. Facebook is an amazing platform but one cannot store ones thoughts for too long here as I have found out and many of my write ups have been lost in cyber space here. I have often stored my writings as comments in my profile photos but that is no way to blog. So anybody reading this please suggest a blog platform which is consumer friendly as I still do not have a web site of my own. The best managed write up has been my photos and essays on my treks to Nanda Devi East ABC and Pin Parvati pass but that is not my domain but owned by india hikes a hiking company from Bangalore. But heck that was a start and encouraged by a friend I hammered on regardless on my laptop telling folks how to do a high altitude trek on their own. I had been trekking hard and furious way back in the mid 80s weighing a slim 55 kilos in Kashmir which was a friendly place till 1989 when the Rubaina kidnapping and subsequent chaos took place and I didnt have any wish to go back despite many friends there. So after driving my car from one end of the country to the other and also the length and breadth of the USA with my younger brother Robi Chakraborty in 2012 June I decided to go on a high altitude trek entering the Nanda Devi biosphere from Munsiyari. Now I was out of shape but I wished to see that fabulous place where I knew for sure views of some amazing peaks and flowers like primula and rhododendron awaited me. I had to go despite not knowing any of the people who organised this trek except for two people who invited me on Facebook and completed the journey in 13 days and captured some amazing pictures which are studded all over my Facebook albums. During that trek I met a young climber called Bhuwan Upadhyay whose videos and pictures from atop the second pinnacle I showed to folks on Facebook. Anyway on that trek I realised that never shall the twain meet as my talking in English more than occasionally irked the organisers and also the fact that I was taking photos incessantly did not help. Anyway I retire next year and I will trek even more as long as I can stay on my feet and walk to save my life !!
