Slumbrew Flagraiser IPA from Somerville Brewing Company (Slumbrew) - TopicsExpress

Slumbrew Flagraiser IPA from Somerville Brewing Company (Slumbrew) in Somerville, Massachusetts From the Slumbrew website: Flagraiser IPA is a big, hoppy tribute to the unfurling of the Grand Union flag atop Prospect Hill in Somerville, MA on January 1, 1776. This ale celebrates our passion for hop aroma and flavor balanced with just the right amount of malt. Huge aroma and resin-y flavors from the elusive Galaxy hops are the signature of this beer. Built on a solid base of pale malts, this double IPA makes generous use of hops from Columbus, Crystal and Galaxy with the Galaxy hops taking the lead during ten days of aggressive dry-hopping. This is a 12 oz. bottle of Double IPA @ 7.5% ABV and 80 IBUs. Ive seen this in 22 oz. bomber bottles, but I grabbed this single 12 oz. bottle at Martins Wine Cellar in New Orleans, Louisiana. Now I wish I had a bomber - this is killer IPA! This is a hazy burnt orange on the pour, with average foam and lacing. Big aromas of citrus hops invite you to taste. Carbonation is a notch above average, and the mouth feel is medium to full. Loads of malts keep pace with the big resin and citrus hops, providing a nice and sweet malt backdrop to the bitterness of the hops - the end product is a very balanced and smooth Double IPA that will keep you coming back for more! This is an awesome IPA, in my humble opinion, and right where I like a big IPA to be! This is a must try and it is now on my list to buy again. Most Excellent!
